disco inferno

not really, just needed a title.

been reading alot. finished the grapes of wrath today on the train to work.

still freelancing. life is good, for now.

the news

quick update.

been freelancing for a studio on the north side of Chicago for the past few weeks. it’s going pretty well. I’m happy to be getting the experience.

I dislike the cold mornings that I experience when I get to work. I don’t feel like it’s spring, I’m hoping in a few weeks I’ll be proven wrong and walk out to flowers blooming or something spectacular.

My computer hard drive failed on me and I had to get it replaced. Other than that mishap, I was able to back up my files before it went, I just wish that it hadn’t happened. I’m going to try and keep this hard drive going for awhile. Hopefully it will last me another four years.

Other than that, Craig Clark is staying with us for a few weeks. He’s freelancing for a firm in the suburbs and it seems insane for him to commute a long distance (from Freeport, IL) to work. Plus he gets to bond with Shemp.

It’s a Bob Dylan/David Bowie kind of day.

Blake showed this to me and I fell in love.

sometimes Craig says random stuff that makes me laugh

Carolyn: I think it’s an interesting way to present updated work, I just didn’t know it existed.

Craig: dude, Carolyn, the internet is massive!

Was supposed to go to Merge tonight at Evil Olive.

Instead visited Mariel at the RIC to just see how she was doing.

I feel positive that she’s going to make a great recovery.

Kinda glad that I skipped Merge tonight, just had the feeling that tonight wasn’t the night to network.

current loves and obsessions

There’s nothing like the internet. I tell you there’s nothing like it! In days of old, when we were sick and at home, you were in bed, and you’d read or play gameboy or video games or whatever. Or else you’d watch movies.

Today while being incredibly sick, I somehow managed to just read design blogs, and fell in love with some of my discoveries:

  • Endgrain: a website dedicated to letterpress nerdery.
  • Starshaped Press: based in Chicago, IL. This press has some amazing work. It makes me envious.

That is all for now. Looks like a blizzard outside.

dear thunderbird

Blake built this today. Now for me to construct a lightbox and order some paper.
